    The most anticipated Chamber event of the year, this celebration highlights the successes of our businesses, organizations, and leaders with the presentation of the the Pickerington Area Chamber Business Awards: Rising Star, Diversity Champion, Nonprofit of the Year, and Business of the Year, as well as the Pickerington Area Chamber ATHENA Awards: ATHENA Leadership, Emerging ATHENA, and Youth ATHENA awards. Join us as we raise a glass to the companies, organizations, members, and volunteers who partner with us to be the voice of business, create jobs, mentor the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs, and help our members thrive!   • The Business of the Year Awards are given to businesses that have contributed to the economic vitality and demonstrated an unusual faith in the future business climate of the Pickerington Area. The business must have operated for at least five years and be a member in good standing of the Pickerington Area Chamber. 

    Nominees must demonstrate excellence in one or more of the following:

    • Exceptional growth through creation of additional jobs, expansion of facilities, or increased revenue.
    • Created a new dimension to the existing business.
    • Business focuses on purchasing goods and services locally where possible.
    • Business owner(s) or upper management has an excellent working relationship with their employees.
    • Business with a reputation for integrity and exemplary customer service in the community.
    • Business, its owners, and/or its employee(s) participate, support, and/or volunteer in community activities.
    • Business had a positive influence and impact on the area business community.

    The Rising Star Awards are given to businesses that have contributed to the economic vitality and demonstrated an unusual faith in the future business climate of the Pickerington Area. The business must have operated for fewer than five years and be a member in good standing of the Pickerington Area Chamber.

    Nominees must demonstrate excellence in one or more of the following:

    • Demonstrate a high level of entrepreneurial spirit, level of creativity, and determination to be successful.
    • New and innovative approaches/initiatives used in order to benefit the business and/or its customers.
    • Business focuses on purchasing goods and services locally where possible.
    • Business owner(s) or upper management has an excellent working relationship with their employees.
    • Business with a reputation for integrity and exemplary customer service in the community.
    • Business, its owners, and/or its employee(s) participate, support, and/or volunteer in community activities.
    • Have a positive influence and impact on the area business community.

    The Diversity Champion Award acknowledges the exceptional efforts of area businesses/organizations/institutions whose visible efforts foster greater appreciation, advancement and celebration of diversity and inclusiveness in the Pickerington/Violet Township community. The nominee must be a member in good standing of the Pickerington Area Chamber. 

    Nominees must demonstrate excellence in one or more of the following:

    • Promotes diversity.
    • Demonstrates measurable achievements in moving their own business/organization toward being a diverse and inclusive operation.
    • Demonstrates emerging or sustained commitment to the values of diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism by documented efforts within their company/organization and/or the community.
    • Displays evidence of substantial efforts to promote a community/working environment that is free from bias and discrimination.
    • Made substantial contributions (by individual/business/organization) toward advancing diversity and inclusion.

    The Nonprofit of the Year Award is given to an organization that has provided outstanding service to the Pickerington/Violet Township Communities, demonstrated sound management practices and exceptional leadership. The organization must have operated for at least three years and be a member in good standing of the Pickerington Area Chamber.

    Nominees must demonstrate excellence in one or more of the following:

    • Be an active 501(c) organization.
    • Shown exemplary support to Fairfield Co./Pickerington/Violet Township through contributions to and support of the community while adhering to the nonprofit’s mission statement.
    • Have a positive influence and impact for the citizens of Fairfield Co., with additional consideration for those who impact the Pickerington/Violet Township community.
    • The mission/objective/goals of the organization reflect a community need.
    • The organization has a reputation for integrity in its dealings with clients, volunteers, staff, or other individual/groups.
    • Maintained fiscal responsibility with quantitative results of initiative.

    The ATHENA Nominees are leaders who meet each of the following criteria:

    • Is a member in good standing of the Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce (all employees of the member company are also eligible)
    • Demonstrates excellence, creativity, and initiative in her/his business or profession
    • Provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in her/his community
    • Clearly serves as a role model for young women both personally and professionally

     ATHENA Award Nominees may represent either the profit or nonprofit sector

    The ATHENA Emerging Leader Nominee is a leader who meets each of the following criteria:

    • Is a member in good standing of the Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce (all employees of the member company are also eligible)
    • Has fewer than 12 years of leadership experience in their current career field/industry
    • Demonstrates excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession
    • Provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community
    • Clearly serves as a role model for young women both personally and professionally


    ATHENA Award Nominees may represent either the profit or nonprofit sector.

  • Diversity Champion Award

    The Emerging ATHENA Leadership Award

    The Emerging ATHENA Leadership Award is presented to an individual or organization who demonstrates the qualities embodied in the ATHENA Leadership Model and who:

    The Youth ATHENA Leadership Award

    Youth ATHENA Nominees are young women within the Pickerington Local High Schools who meet each of the following criteria:

    • Lives in Pickerington and attends Pickerington North or Central High School
    • Demonstrates excellence, creativity, and initiative in her school activities
    • Provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in her community
    • Clearly serves as a role model for young women both personally and professionally
