Mission Statement
The purpose of Fairfield County Park District (Fairfield County Parks) is “to protect and conserve natural and historical features of Fairfield County and inspire outdoor exploration”.
Founded in 1981, Fairfield County Park District operates more than 1,150 acres of natural areas and open spaces for education, recreation and conservation, and preserves and maintains many historical features.
Fairfield County Park District is a separate political subdivision of the State of Ohio organized under Ohio Revised Code, Chapter 1545, to “acquire lands either within or without the park district for conversion into forest reserves and for the conservation of the natural resources of the state, including streams, lakes, submerged lands, and swamplands, and to those ends may create parks, parkways, forest reservations, and other reservations and afforest, develop, improve, protect, and promote the use of the same in such manner as the board deems conducive to the general welfare.” (1545.11)
